Work in Progress: 7th August

Roadworks TriangleIt's high summer in the high moors...

Another glorious day at in North Devon again so we were able to do plenty of jobs. Today's work was split between two sites again; Woody Bay Station and Rowley Moor Farm.

David Bloomfield took a few pictures at Woody Bay before moving the four miles to the newly-acquired farm.

1. Don Newnham greasing the points at Woody Bay.

2. Trevor Buck polishing the brassware on the Heritage Coaches.

3. ISAAC being prepared for duty by Driver Pete Williams and Acting Fireman Peter Endy. Robert Ayres was on guard duties today.

4. Ilfracombe Town Crier Roy Goodwin welcoming the first coach of the day

While the trains ran and other work continued at Woody Bay, More work was being carried out at Rowley Moor Farm. The small field behind the two properties was fenced off using posts recycled from previous working weekends at Woody Bay.

This task was made much easier with the help of A&B engineering, using their post-rammer to install some of the posts, the rest were installed by hand.

Roger Bye and David Bloomfield sorted out some redundant electrical cables in the top barn and removed a pole.

After lunch Roger and Graham Varney carried out repairs to the barn door opening and strengthened it.

In the rear barn the centre stalls were removed by a third team, so the shed could be used for storage.

The last task was for Martyn Budd to bore two holes for picket gate posts which were then concreted in.
