Work in Progress - 7 October

Bright sunny weather at Woody Bay today as the Thursday gang continued the post-Gala clear up jobs. Our own main marquee tent which is used as the outdoor tea rooms during the season was dismantled and taken down for winter storage.

1. Taking down the framework of the marquee.
2. The removal of this marquee reveals again the attractive apprearance of the southern (A39) side of Woody Bay Station - and of the repairs and repainting required over the winter. Any help will be gratefully received.

Other jobs undertaken by the gang today included dismantling of 'Killington Lane East' signal cabin (the small shed erected as shelter for the signalman over the Gala  -not really used as the weather was just so good over the weekend!).

Other tasks included some removal of a temporary rope fence by the miniature garden railway and also some preparary work on alterations to this railway as required by the Exmoor National Park in the recent granting of planning permission here.

3. AXE was heading the passenger train today which was quite busy even for this time of year.
4. FR Coach No.14 (ex L&BR Coach No.15) awaiting return to North Wales pictured in the good evening light and in the superb Exmoor scenery on the Woody Bay headshunt.
5. A final view of the coach which had been on loan from the FR for the Gala. (The coach eventually left for Wales on Friday 8th October.)
