Graham Rust has supplied this week's report.
With LYN being prepared for her trip to Wales, AXE was on duty today. The Thursday Gang were kept as busy as ever, and despite the weather, a lot was achieved - a credit to our hard-working volunteers at Woody Bay!
1. Under a grey sky, the first task was to drop off some new sleepers along the line. The loco HEDDON HALL was used to haul the already loaded well-wagon.
2. The sleepers were dropped off at three locations, but won't be used until after the Autumn Gala. By now rain was threatening.
3. AXE was operating the service trains, with Graham Bridge driving and Alfie firing.
4. Guard Bob (Left) and 5. (Right) Relief Guard Jim - both checking tickets.
6. As the rain began to fall, work continued on the trench started last week, for a new water pipe from the water tank.
7. Anne, Dave and Steve busy themselves digging out an area for the concrete base of the new water-treatment plant, despite the weather.
Blissfully unaware of the weather outside, the "Paint Shop Boys" continue overhauling the brake van with 8. Geoff painting a door, ... 9. Barrie painting around the edge of the roof, ...
10. ... and Jim painting the roof.
11. Meanwhile, braving the weather outside, Brandon and Don were checking and replacing the rollers and castings for the point rodding.
12. At the other end of the line, Chris, Peter and Tim were at Killington Lane emptying the contents of the bogie-open wagon into dumpy bags.
13. Back at Woody Bay, the weather was sufficiently dry to allow Steve, Dave, Chris, and Anne to put in the concrete base for the new water treatment plant.
14. And finally, inside the Running Shed, Dave, Dave and Roger were busy finalising the installation of the safety rails around the inspection pit.
