After the very successful Autumn Steam Gala last weekend, it was time for the Thursday Gang to return the railway at Woody Bay back to 'normal'. The tasks included putting away all the signs and taking down the extra marquees for storage in the shed, ready for the next Gala in May 2013.
It was also another operating day, with a steady flow of visitors including a couple of Shearings coach parties. The railway is open five days a week throughout October, (Closed Mondays and Fridays).
1. AXE returning to Woody Bay with the passenger train.
2. Trainee Guard Paul Robbins (left) was assisted by regular volunteer and Commercial Director Dave Blencowe.
3. Visiting Hampshire-based member David Mead was helping in the shop.
4. After the Gala with the visiting Quarry Hunslets, BRITOMART returned to the Ffestiniog Railway this week, but LILLA will remain at Woody Bay until early next year. During a shunt move LILLA is moved between the shed roads.
5. A kitchen scene as volunteers John O'Dell and Graham Bendell politely request their afternoon tea from Irene Cross and June Manfield.
6. Later, another task for today's gang was to unload the recent delivery of point rodding from the flat wagon to store. This point rodding will be used for signalling schemes as the railway extends to Blackmoor Gate.
7. AXE passes the concrete stable with the new "Wish it was longer?" poster.
8. Close-up of the "Wish it was Longer?" poster. The current trackbed appeal is attracting strong support.
