Work in Progress: 25th July

Roadworks Triangle Hot, hot, hot!

Once again, this week's WIP report is provided by Roger Bye

1. The Thursday Gang were greeted with beautiful sunshine but the cooling breeze could only keep temperatures down to the low 30's

2. & 3. It might be hot but trains had to be run and it was warm work for Graham, Dave and Roddy watering and coaling ISAAC.

4. The removal of the rear cab panel did provide a degree of "air conditioning" on the move!

5. An unusual visitor to the paint shop this week was the L&B's mini-excavator which was to have a clean-up and partial repaint. Here Geoff degreases and cleans the body while Jim tackles the engine covers.

6. Another unusual paint shop visitor was engineer Pete, currently on light duties as he recovers his health. Here he points out a bit that Jim has missed!

7. Elsewhere on site Malcolm and Tim reinstate some fencing that had to be removed to allow the mini-excavator access for an earlier job.

8. Keith, Anne and Malcolm (again!) started to erect some post and rail fencing at the end of the down platform...

9. ...while nearby another group replaced some deteriorated fixings on the turnout to the headshunt and loading dock - standing clear as the regular trains passed.

10. Here are the results of the work with the yellow markings indicating next week's task - replace the two sleepers!

11. & 12. Despite the heat, we had no delays or cancellations due to track distortion, overhead line failure or air-conditioning problems and our passengers...

13. ...including regular visitor Harry, enjoyed the ride!
