Work in Progress: 23rd May

Roadworks Triangle Sunny LYN!

1. A down train hauled by LYN arrives, unusually in the down platform ....

2. .... and later, departs from the same platform waved off by the volunteers.

3. The reason for this change in operations was due to the track gang being busy fishplate oiling in the up platform.

4. Graham Rust, Dave Pratt, Roger Bye with Dave Bloomfield observing, made steady progress along the line.

5. Recent machine work in the workshop has seen the fabricating of these small brass bars for the miniature railway locomotive LITTLE OLLIE.

6. Five locomotives on shed this morning with PILTON, HEDDON HALL, ISAAC, AXE and FAITH.

7. PILTON was undergoing a service by engineer, John Uphill.

8. In the paint shop, Jim Pounds busy on one side of Carriage No.7....

9.... as Geoff Long tackles removing flaking paint from the other side.
Absent today was Barrie Cann who is currently in hospital. All of us wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at Woody Bay in due course.

10. The train crew take a break on the usual platform bench as LYN simmers alongside.

11. A scene always well observed by visitors.

12. Last but not least, signalling engineer Dick Gunn always likes to be photographed for the report. Dick and team are progressing well with new signal requirements for the eventual extension of the railway and often need to collect parts from Woody Bay.
