Back to the winter weather this week. Some snow had fallen earlier but today was now wet and windy. Despite this, the depleted Thursday Group today were tasked with an outside job to assist miniature railway project leader, Alistair Hall, to progress further the construction of a small engine shed to be located alongside the water tower.
Alistair had earlier dug out and laid the base with some steel netting for reinforcing. Now it was time for the volunteers on site to mix up and pour concrete for the shed's base.
1. Pete Freeman and John O'Dell tip another mix of concrete into the wheelbarrow.
2. Andy Foster and Nigel Thompson shovel the aggregate and cement from the Bogie open wagon SR No.28320 into the cement mixer.
3. John O'Dell pushes yet another wheelbarrow load up the slope towards the miniature railway 'depot site' by the water tower. John 'seemed' to enjoy his outdoor labouring work today - a vast change on his usual dry and warm carpentry jobs inside the station or the shed.
4. Alistair Hall by the miniature railway shed base awaiting another concrete mix load.
5. Andy and John help to clean and hose down the wagon after completion of the job today.
