With regular reporter Nigel Thompson away this week and Roger Bye just back from a holiday, after a long break from producing an L&B report, Dave Bloomfield has very kindly taken the plunge.
Today's weather started out as showery but warm. Later, the sun came out. Here are several photos to illustrate the varied amount of work that was being undertaken today.
1. Dave Evans attending to the guttering between the Toilet Block and the Mess Room.
2. CHARLES WHYTOCK is the duty engine today and the train crew are Driver Pete Williams Fireman Peter Hendry and Guard Bob Ayres - later joined by Jim Price.
3. ISAAC undergoing maintenance with Jim Pounds, John Uphill and Nick Slade wondering where to put the hose!
4. Jim Pounds is rubbing down the paintwork on ISAAC's boiler cladding as it is blistering and starting to rust. More blistering is under the rag.
5. Ken checking the vegetable patch for possible items for use in the Tea Rooms.
6. CHARLES WHYTOCK climbing back after a shower encountered a greasy rail. John Uphill applies sand to the rails to aid traction.
7. Roy Goodwin, Ilfracombe’s Town Crier entertaining and welcoming passengers to Woody Bay.
8. The end of the line for Nigel Spencer. After three years work he has now completed a full repaint of all the fencing and seats at Woody Bay. (Time to start again Nigel).
9. CHARLES WHYTOCK about to depart with a full load.
10. Jim Price has built another stand for a token machine. It is now ready for painting.
11. Our signaling team of Dick Gunn, Don Newnham and Trevor Buck are working on another part of a rail built signal post drilling holes.
12. I just had to take this one of Dick. No further comment required.
13. CHARLES WHYTOCK returning to Woody Bay through the drizzle.
14. Track crew returning to Killington Lane after lunch to continue sleeper replacement.
15. The team at work on the sleepers.
16. This is how the passengers see us (just standing around doing nothing again).
