Work in Progress: 15th January

Roadworks TriangleA few brave the cold!

1. A works train was assembled for a run to Killington Lane...

2. ... where the gang collected some redundant rail for a fabrication project at Woody Bay.

3. Just one storm damage repair today: Jim Pounds and Dave Robinson dug out, refilled and tamped down a small area by the stable which had slightly subsided.

4. More winter shutdown operations; moving the platform seats to under-cover storage in the marquee.

5. Jim, Dave and Graham Varney use the platform trolley to move the seats from the down platform, over the newly installed barrow crossing, closer to the running shed.

6. Another recently completed project was repositioning the down home shunt signal onto a bracket. This signal, originally at ground level, has been raised to improve its visibility to train crews.

7. In the shed, the engineering team were busy rebuilding the plant trailer with a new and stronger steel frame. When finished the trailer will then be useful not only for transporting the excavator but also wagons and other rail equipment.

8. John Heys was also on site today, organising alternative couplings for his Bagnall 4-4-0T CHARLES WYTOCK.

9. Finally, a view of ISAAC stabled at the back of the shed during the winter shutdown.
