Work in Progress: 14th August

Roadworks TriangleBusy, Busy, Busy ...

There were many visitors to Woody Bay during the changeable weather this week. Many trains have been running full, and the station has seen so many people at times, it almost felt like a Gala weekend.

1. Coach parties are normally greeted by Roy, our 'resident' town crier. Today, he was assisted by a pair of criers visiting from Australia.

2. ISAAC was stabled outside the shed. AXE is just visible running round the train during the afternoon.

3. John Heys was doing more work on his Bagnall 4-4-0T steam locomotive, CHARLES WYTOCK. John has been fabricating a spectacle plate to fit on the cab's rear.

4. Jim Pounds was working on another locomotive project. Jim is carrying out bodywork repairs before a repaint of Hunslet diesel HEDDON HALL.

5. The somewhat depleted Thursday Gang Outdoor Team were joined this week by Stephen Orchard from Gloucestershire who assisted locals Roger Bye and Mike Corner with the construction of a flight of steps leading from the top storage area directly to the shed.

6. Recycled sleepers were used as risers with patio slabs laid on top, and set into the earth bank.

7. Mike cleans the mud from the completed steps.
