Work in Progress 14 April

1. Fishplate greasing continues this week as Dave, Richard and Jim grease a rail joint on the loop line through the platforms at Woody Bay.

 2. Another job carried out today was the replacement of the up starter signal arm. Martyn Budd and Dick Gunn swap the arms between train operations.

3. A different view of AXE with the passenger train seen from the woodland area.

4. AXE runs into Woody Bay to a crowded, busy platform including some railway enthusiasts photographing the L & B's train.

 5. Later AXE stands at Killington Lane ready to leave with the 11:45 back to Woody Bay.

6. Today's traincrew is Driver, Robin Edwards (left) and Fireman, Jim Price.

7. In the afternoon a Taw & Torridge coach operating for Brend Tours reversed down the drive.......

8. .....closely followed by another creating a busy scene in the yard.   Brend Tours
have this year for the first time included the L&B as part of their regular North Devon and Exmoor Tour.  The coach parties all enjoyed a train ride and cream tea as part of their visit.

9. Meanwhile the track gang carried on with the fishplate greasing at the rail joints on the main line reaching below the car park field by the mid afternoon.

10. The gang stand aside whilst AXE passes with a train heavily loaded with the coach party visitors.
