Whilst the track gang worked just down the line replacing a couple of rotten sleepers below the headshunt siding several other jobs were underway at Woody Bay Station as preparations continued for the Armistice Day remembrance and members forum weekend.
1. HEDDON HALL with the works train of tools by the section with the couple of sleepers needing replacing.
2. This week SID received some attention with the boiler receiving new cladding. This job required the cab to be temporary removed.
3. The excavator lifts the cab of SID back into place.
4. Good progress on Hunslet diesel D6652 as part of the new repainted bodywork is put back in place.
5. Dick Gunn has reached the top of his refurbishment of the up starter signal. Dick uses the needle gun to remove rust of the rail built signal post here.
6. Later in the shed Dick repaints the signal post top in red primer. Also on the bogie flat wagon are other repainted sections of D6652's top bodywork and the repaired 'Goods yard' gates awaiting refitting in place.
7. Steve Ball refixes SID's bodywork after the successful recladding programme.
8. Jim Price prepares another station door window frame for a replacement window.
9. After lunch the works train is seen at Woody Bay before a trip down the line.
10. HEDDON HALL with flat No.51 and new Brake Van SR No.56042 at the sleeper stacks near Bridge 67.
11. John Villers and Graham Bendell unload a few sleepers to store on the stacks.
12. The works train at Killington Lane prior to its trip back during a tidy of the lineside -collecting dropped coal, some broken old wooden survey posts and various other debris along the route.
13. Most of the trees have now lost their leaves but this one behind the down platform provides a colourful backdrop to composite coach No.3.
