It looks like the Watersmeet Bridge restoration project has finished 1st in the poll run by Bovril, so hopefully we can look forward to seeing the bridge open once again. Quite an achievement considering some of the other projects this was up against, so well done to all those involved in this project, and if you voted - thanks!
Lyn Rock Bridge was badly damaged by a falling tree during the summer of 2009 and following an assessment by structural engineers was deemed uneconomic to repair.
The bridge connects two of the busiest footpaths on Exmoor across the stunningly beautiful East Lyn River close to the remains of the Lynrock Mineral water bottling plant that was destroyed by the disastrous floods in August 1952.
The proposed project would see the bridge re-built, opening up access again to large numbers of walkers, anglers and canoeists on or around the East Lyn River.
The final results will be announced on the Bovril website in February, see http://www.bovril.co.uk/revival/ for further details...
Well done to all concerned.
