Town Criers

Sunday 17th June saw a very unusual visit at Woody Bay Station - an annual meeting of Town Criers. A total of over 50 bold and brightly dressed characters, plus many similarly dressed partners, adorned the platform at Woody Bay in the afternoon.

The site had to be seen to be believed, with the departure of their train being possible the loudest train the L&B has ever seen. The footplate crew were joined for the journey by Hatherleigh's Town Crier, who also holds the title of the loudest town crier in Britain.
