Storm Damage at Killington Lane

We thought that we had escaped damage from the big storm which passed through the West Country last Thursday and Friday. Certainly Woody Bay Station did not suffer in any way.

However, with the start of half-term week services today, we discovered that Killington Lane had not been so lucky. The platform there being exposed to the full force of the wind, unfortunately the wooden shelter was ripped from its moorings, and hurled over a hundred yards down the field below. A closer inspection of the remains will be required before we can discover if the shelter is repairable, or if we need to invest in a new building. One thing is for certain: we have an unusual job for the Thursday Gang to tackle this week!

Views of the shelter, upside down in the field below the halt. The last view shows where it should be, and where it now is!
