Report November 2017 Winter Working Weekend Part 1

Roadworks TriangleOrange Army Weekend!

The annual November Winter Working Weekend commenced last Friday November 24th

A large contingent of orange jacketed volunteers from all over the UK descended upon North Devon to undertake various tasks including clearance of the section between Bridge 54 and 55 - see map below - as we already have Planning Permission for this section.

1. How Bridge 55 looked at the commencement.

2. & 3. Great views west from here.

4. The inevitable fire was lit.

5. Some curious cows came to observe.

6. Warm enough for the removal of jackets!

7. Bridge 55 begins to emerge.

8. Various small trees were felled.

9. Another small fire and a view from above the bridge.

10. A later view with the fire burned out. Another great job.

11. Meanwhile at Bridge 54 a team were hunting for a water main that runs under the bridge.

12. Having dug down over a metre without a sign of the water main it was decided it was sufficiently deep enough for it not to be an issue for us.

13. The long trek back to Blackmoor.

14. Meanwhile back at Woody Bay Julia Snashall, Sonia Oakey, Liz Tagart and an unphotographed Christine Duffell (AKA the Grottettes)' were busy creating the centre-piece of the Santa Specials - Santa's Grotto!

15. Sonia applies the final touches.

16. A super job - very Chrismassy.

17. Santa's special seat.

18. A job well done.
