We are pleased to report that the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway was presented with a prestigious Engineering Heritage Award on Thursday 18th September in the new Lynmouth Pavilion
Previous winners of the award have been the E-Type Jaguar, Tower Bridge and Concorde as examples of great British engineering.
The award was presented by John Wood, chairman of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Heritage Committee, to Andrew Ireland, chairman of the Lynmouth and Lynton Lift Company. “The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a fine example of UK engineering and was the first of its kind and is now the oldest water-powered total-loss funicular railway in the UK.” said Mr Wood.
Congratulations from the L&B to all involved with the Cliff Railway.
