L&B Officers Receive HRA Award

The Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards Ceremony this year was held on February 8 at the Bath Guildhall Banqueting Room.

On behalf of the L&B Trust, Peter Miles* (Chairman) left and Tony Nicholson (Secretary) (right) receive the HRA Annual Award (Small Groups) from the HRA's President Lord Faulkner of Worcester.

The award is made to a HRA member organisation for an outstanding achievement in railway preservation.

The citation reads:

"this award is made to the  Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Trust in recognition of it taking a major step forward in its mission to recreate a piece of North Devon transport heritage in its original form with the restoration of three original carriages. This was enhanced by the visit of a Lynton and Barnstaple replica Manning Wardle locomotive in Southern Railway green. This iconic narrow gauge railway which closed in 1935 is today being gradually recreated.

*If you are wondering Peter was recovering from a broken leg hence the crutches!
