The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway was represented at Eastleigh 100 - the Southern Railways' Works Centenary Celebrations - over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend by a joint stand between the Surrey Area Group and the 762 Club.
The Surrey Area Group reports that despite the long journey travelling to and from Eastleigh each day, they had a successful and enjoyable show. There was a continual influx of questions about the railway from visitors to answer on each of the three days, and sales were good.
There was also considerable interest in the 762 Club promoting the building of a modern replica of the Baldwin 2-4-2 engine ‘Lyn’. Some new members were picked-up, a considerable amount of leaflets were distributed - especially to visitors who expressed an interest - and some material was sold.
