January Working Weekend Photos

Roadworks TriangleWinter Working Weekend 23rd - 25th January

Final batch of photos - this time from Pete Snashall

A few photos from the Friday and Saturday of the working weekend.

As always, huge thanks to all the volunteers who make these weekends such a success; we had in excess of 30 volunteers on site during Saturday and over 40 individuals contributed to the weekend.

For the record, 110 fence posts were not only removed on Friday, but also swiftly replaced with steel droppers - despite the sub-zero temperatures resulting in some very numb fingers! The posts were collected and stockpiled for future use and will be sufficient to fence 1/4 mile of trackbed.

Lifted posts being loaded, whilst the excavator lifts even more.

Meanwhile, Julian and Lindsay Palmer get stuck in at Chelfham.

Everything stops for tea...

... and cake!

No prizes for guessing the location.

Our thanks to Kate Pounds for kindly supplying us with two trays of delicious cakes in Judy's absence, and also to Lindsay Palmer for her lovely Welsh cakes (fast becoming a working weekend tradition) and not forgetting all those who supplied mountains of biscuits!

2. The gang enjoy their break at Chelfham Station.

3-7. Bonfires on the trackbed.

8. Lunch in the newly decorated booking office room.

9. Afternoon tea break in the waiting room.

10 & 11. Looking down onto the cleared trackbed as work progresses in the afternoon.

12. As the day draws to a close, the last bonfire will soon be just ash and embers.
