Groups: Surrey Members at the REC

Surrey Group stand atREC,September 2009The L&B Surrey Group took its sales stand to the Railway Enthusiasts Club Model Railway Show at Woking Leisure Center for the weekend of 12/13 th September. Many thanks to all those who assisted, In particular Maddy & Bob Brown who attended both days, Gordon Brown was on hand to sign his book which was selling well.  Chris Dadson manned the stand on Saturday and  talked up the sales in his inimitable style. Sadly Chris was committed to the Bluebell stand on Sunday and our sales were noticeably lower.

Thanks also go to Geoff Kingate who had the arduous task of bringing the stock down and setting up on Saturday and Fran Smith and Jim Allen who helped out on Sunday. Overall it was a reasonably successful show, Eric Leslie’s Christmas cards sold extremely well. The last of our stock sold out on Sunday morning. Also all the kids Guards hats sold out too.

We will have to do a major restock for our next show, which is at Kew Bridge Steam Museum on 14th & 15th November. In addition to the world’s largest working stationary steam engine, the show features the larger scale models, including live steam and they also have a 2 ft gauge railway on site. See you there.

After the show Chris Dadson called and mentioned that the Bluebell Stand also had a successful day which he attributes to sales of Thomas the Tank Engine items so we will have to look at that for the future.  We do sell a lot of donated items so if any member has any railway related items that they would like to part with, e.g. models and books, please get in touch.  Although we prefer donations, we would also welcome sales on commission.
