We have just discovered that Woody Bay Station is the site of a Geocache.
"What is a Geocache?" I hear you ask. Well, it is a kind of hi-tech treasure hunt, many thousands of small containers being hidden around the country (and indeed, the world), to be searched for using GPS technology. The cache usually contains a note book (to record visits) and a few small “treasures”.
It appears that the “Woody Bay Choo Choo” cache was hidden on-site last Easter, but it has remained secret despite being visited by quite a few treasure hunters over the past three months.

On their web site home page, just enter the postcode for Woody Bay Station (EX31 4RA) in the search box to reveal more details about the location of this hidden cache. The clues may enable those familiar with the area around the station to find the cache, even without GPS assistance. There are also comments from some of the visitors who have found the cache, many of whom comment favourably on their visits to the railway, a pleasing by-product of the hunt.
