Chelfham Station Progress Report: 22nd October

Chelfham Station is now open every Sunday for anyone to view the restoration progress both inside and outside the original building.

Visitors can also view the viaduct, and enjoy a trackbed walk all the way from Chelfham to Loxhore. The walk now includes the adjacent section of trackbed owned by Exmoor Associates.

John Mack Smith was at Chelfham last week, continuing the laying of bricks along the platform edges.

1. John began laying the blue engineering bricks on the section in front of the restored replica running-in board on the up platform. John himself re-created this sign back in 2013.

4. In the foreground is the almost finished "down" platform edge. Frank Daff looks on. The trackbed through the woods towards Loxhore is invitingly visible.

Our supply of blue engineering bricks (imperial size) is dwindling, so if anyone can help us out with more to complete the project please let me know.
