August 12th, L&B's General Manager Retires

The L&B's General Manager Martyn Budd, retired this week.

Railway Staff marked his departure by hosting a presentation on Thursday evening. Several photos were taken and here is a selection of them.

1. Couple of photos of the assembled railway staff prior to the presentation. (Dave Tooke.)

2. Tony Nicholson presented Martyn with an Eric Leslie painting. Another presentation was a model of a tractor and plough. (Keith Lamprey.)

3. Roger Bye (left) gave an "end of term report". (Julian Palmer.)

4. The final act was for Martyn to pass over the GM's keys to the new General Manager, Stuart Nelhams. (Julian Palmer.)

We are sure you will join with us in thanking Martyn for all he has done for our railway and wish him well in his retirement. Martyn has said that he intends to return to the L&B from time to time - particularly in connection with the working weekends.

For those of you who don't know, Stuart Nelhams is a long-standing member of the West Somerset Railway team and certainly very experienced in railway matters. Welcome aboard Stuart.
