General Manager's Fishplate Fund

Well here they are - not quite as exciting as a new carriage but just as essential in the grand scheme. The first delivery of fishplates obtained via your contributions to the GM's funds.

Our gratitude as always to those who made this happen. Please keep up the contributions as our GM would like to purchase a few more whilst they are still available.

Our General Manager Martyn Budd has been steadily building up a collection of signalling equipment and other items needed for the extension to Blackmoor.. Through your recent generosity he was able to obtain two Tyer's No. 6 token instruments - very similar to those originally used on the L&B as well as a good quantity of other signal box furniture all for £1,500 - surely the bargain of the year given the rarity and expense of these items. Our thanks to all who contributed and also to those who privately supplied these items to us.

As is the way with these things we have just been offered yet more signalling equipment including point rodding, cranks and shunt signals - but also a brilliant deal on narrow gauge (50LB) fishplates - sufficient for two miles of railway line! These are on offer to us for a ridiculous price - less than scrap value - it is so low that we are afraid to publish the price per pair including bolts. So to not complicate matters we are asking as many of you as possible to make a donation of a "tenner" £10 to the GM's Fund.
