Work in Progress: 20th September

1. A fine view of Woody Bay Station in between trains.

2. Van SR No.47062, YEO's frames and AXE awaiting to depart with an afternoon service.

3. AXE's Driver today, David Pritchard enjoys a quick cuppa before the 15:00 departure.

4. Trainee Guard Roger Martin points out a vacant compartment to a last minute passenger for the 15:00.

5. The Shearings coach is able to drive right up to the entrance gate. The flower tubs have been painted this week by Mary Askew.

6. Whilst his wife, Mary, (who isn't keen on being photographed) has transformed the flower barrels on the plattform, Don Askew was making a new flowerbed in the tea garden. (Photo Judy Williams)

7. The finished product! The white stones used as a border were retrieved during the recently excavated down platform foundation edge at Chelfham.

12. The overflow car park grass has also been mowed in preparation for the extra visitors at the Gala.
 


13. The miniature railway will be operating. A new signal post has appeared by the station.
 


14. A small marquee was erected to link the new green marquee with the original (which will be re-covered next week)

16. As well as a tidy up in the shed this week, work continues on the roof of Box Van SR No.47064. Dave Drayson and Dave Bloomfield in action this afternoon.
 


17. With General Manager Martyn Budd away this week on Railway business, the volunteers enjoyed extra tea breaks in the new marquee. Dave Blencowe, John Villers, Dave Bloomfield, Dave Drayson and Graham Bendell enjoy this unusual time (14:30) for a tea break.
