Work in Progress: 21st June

With our regular roving reporter Nigel away this weeks report was sent in by Thursday Gang regular Dave Bloomfield

Today started out overcast and by 11am it was raining - by mid-afternoon it was quite heavy.

An early train was booked for a Shearings coach party and this left at 10:15am.

With only two of the regular Thursday volunteers  (John O'dell and Dave Bloomfield) at the start, we continued work on the S&T wagon doing last minute jobs so that it will be ready to resume a life in the sometimes harsh North Devon weather. Two more permanent way wagons await our attention.

Jim Price, who was not on the footplate today, came in later and fixed up some notice boards as well as other jobs around the station.

Train crew today was Driver Pete Williams, Fireman Graham Varney and Guard Bob Ayres.

Tony Cross was in the Shop, and Martin & June Manfield shared the catering duties - Martin covering the morning and June the afternoon - ably assisted by Thursday regular Irene Cross.

Two more coaches arrived in the afternoon - another from Shearings and one from Sewards of Axminster (all most welcome).
