The main project today for the 'Dorset' Thursday track gang was to complete the 2012 fishplate oiling programme along the line.
1. John Heys, John Villers and Graham Bendell (all of whom have a two hour plus drive to Woody Bay every week) work on a fishplate joint just below the car park.
2. AXE heads away with a four-carriage train.
3. With both the picnic area grass mowing and fishplate oiling jobs paused for a moment, AXE makes a fine sight (and sound!) with the train climbing up to Woody Bay this morning.
4. AXE passes the lawn mower alongside the picnic area at the end of the car park.
5. In the shed Dave Bloomfield paints roof adhesive prior to a new felt roof to be fitted onto box Van No.62.
6. Long standing volunteer and member, Len Howse painting grey top coat onto the end of Van No.62.
7. Graham Varney puts some finishing touches to the new casting block for our own signalling ground horses. This will be used in future projects including the extension to Blackmoor Gate.
8. On shed today, SID and Hunslet diesels HEDDON HALL and D6652.
9. Taking a break from planning the future extensions to the railway, and enjoying lunch in the tea rooms marquee, are (left-right) Company Directors Brom Bromidge, Tony Nicholson, and Keith Vingoe with visiting L&B Life Member and LYD supremo James Evans.
10. James delivered an L&B rail-bender (seen here on the trolley). This has been donated to the railway by David Murch of Umberleigh who rescued it from Pilton Yard in 1936. Photo and text Tony Nicholson
