Area Groups Update

This just in from our new West Midlands Area Group

The new West Midlands Support Group held it’s inaugural meeting at the Severn Valley Railway Museum at Kidderminster Station in the morning of Saturday 11th February. Nearly 20 people were present drawn from an area encompassing Worcester to Stoke on Trent.

Trustee and Railway Financial Controller Ian Cowling together with the Railway Company's Commercial Director, Dave Blencowe came up from Devon and Ian gave us an excellent presentation about the application for the T&WO and the latest plans for the next phase in re-opening the railway. There were also two prospective new members at the meeting.

It was decided that the West Midlands Area Group meetings would be held bi-monthly, probably alternating between evening meetings and Saturday morning meetings. The next meeting will be on Friday 30th March at 7.30pm at the Severn Valley Railway Museum at Kidderminster Station, when a Group Committee will be elected. For the time being Mike Whiteaker is acting as Group Chairman & Group Organiser and Phil Bennett is acting as Press Officer.
