After the Remembrance service was over, and the special train returned to Woody Bay, the Regular Thursday gang redressed to the usual bright orange coats to assist in carrying out a variety of tasks today as directed by General Manager, Martyn Budd.
1. Delivered last weekend from Essex was the restored level crossing gates.
2. The gates were lifted onto a works train and delivered into the shed ready for further painting this winter.
3. Next some rail from the dismantled turnouts was loaded onto the works train and taken down the line to Killington Lane. Here the gang form a chain to unload the various track fixings that will hold the turnouts together when the regauging takes place later this winter.
4. Unloading the track fixings by hand at Killington Lane.
Other tasks completed today included a major shunt around for the winter by the putting away of the carriages to the shed, and also to allow the the wagon restoration project of the ex MOD 4 wheel Brake Van (to be featured in a future news report) to continue with the Brake Van now positioned over the pit.
