After a delay due to the heavy snow last weekend, work began on the digging out behind the stock shed for the extension section.
One digger was driven through the shed to excavate the earth bank at the rear of the shed, tipping the spoil into a works train of a bogie open wagon and diesel loco Heddon Hall.
This train then ran along to the end of the down platform where another digger was positioned to unload the spoil to dump behind the pine trees to an area which will form an access ramp and path to the woodlands below the down platform.
Meanwhile volunteers had dismantled the panels of track which had formed the fuel siding. Other ongoing work today included top coat painting inside the new toilets and some electrical work throughout the new buildings.
