Charles Wytock ready for this weekend's event

Friday 1st May: CHARLES WYTOCK was successfully steam-tested. The new steam and vacuum brake equipment working exactly as it should.

The rear coupling has been altered to the Calthrop type so as to be compatible with the L&B s couplings. The fabrication of the front coupling is yet to be finished.

Some photos, taken on a rather dull Exmoor afternoon, of CHARLES WYTOCK standing at Killington Lane with an L&B four-carriage train.

The improved valve timing, plus the blast pipe having been restored to the correct diameter, gave a very crisp and impressive exhaust bark when the train climbed back up the hill to Woody Bay! The triple chime whistle sounds rather impressive too. So if you want to experience sights and sounds like these, make sure you come along to the Spring Vintage Weekend on 9th and 10th May.
