May Day and the Surrey Group are in town!
Phil Rawstron, Peter Jones and Nick Brown from the Surrey Area Group have been in North Devon all week for their working week holiday! Their main project has been to build a new waiting shelter at Killington Lane - replacing the one that was damaged beyond repair during the winter storms.

1. Peter, Phil and Nick pose outside the new (and well-anchored) waiting shelter.

2. Phil holds the plaque dedicated to Surrey Group members father and son Stuart and Paul Browning who sadly passed within a few months of each other. The Browning family made a significant financial donation in their memory and this went towards enabling the railway's extension to Killington Lane.

3. Another recent improvement at Killington Lane was a display board (also well anchored to lengths of old rail) showing a map of the proposed extension.

4. The Surrey Group continue their work on the shelter's roof measuring a section of roofing felt.

5. ISAAC awaits departure whilst the visitors enjoy the steam atmosphere.

6. In Heritage Carriage No. 17, Guard Bob Ayres enjoys the ride back to Woody Bay.

7. ISAAC and today's train crew: Fireman Andy Foster, Driver Pete Williams and Guard Bob Ayres.

8. Another round of various projects for the Thursday Group - Graham Bendell and John Villers tidy up a section behind the shed.

9. Stone walling contractor Nick was on site today to begin relaying the retaining wall and earth bank by the headshunt.

10. The gang assist by moving stones across the running line, pausing whilst ISAAC departs with the 1415 service.
