Bronllwyd to Return to Woody Bay

As most will know AXE has been undergoing a protracted overhaul this winter including a repaint. All was going to plan until John Uphill - the man who built AXE for us and who together with our volunteer CME Chris Carder has been responsible for the overhaul - suffered a serious eye injury (not whilst on L&B business we hasten to add). Naturally the overhaul has been put back a few weeks, and it became clear that time was tight and AXE's return to steam in time for the May Gala was uncertain.  Graham Lee of Statfold Barn was approached and has once again come to our rescue. BRONLLWYD will now be operating the Thorpe Park Carriages, with LYD operating the Heritage Carriages at the 2013 May Gala.

Then owned by the Bressingham Steam Trust, BRONLLWYD first arrived at Woody Bay in 2005, operating all our steam services for the summer season, staying on to work all our steam passenger trains throughout 2006 and the first half of 2007. For more details about BRONLLWYD click HERE

We are of course delighted to welcome BRONLLWYD (or should that now be GP39) back to Devon - our thanks once again to Graham Lee and the Statfold Barn team for their support of our railway.
